I was lucky enough to witness the BodyWorlds 2 exhibit in Toronto this past week and was in total awe of the exhibit. For one, the Doctor responsible for the exhibit spent over 1500 on each person. There must have been over 20 people who were on display. For those of you who don't know what BodyWorlds 2 is about, let me explain. Dr. Gunther von Hagens is the pioneer of BodyWorlds who has taken donated bodies and perserved them through a process called plastination that allows people to view the specimens as if their skin, blood, and viens were all never there. All that's left are the muscles, bones, ligaments, nerves, and organs. The spectacle seems almost perverse, but it's main aim is to provide health education. For example, they show the effects of a smokers lung versus a none smoker and someone who lives in a busy city, for example, Toronto. Trust me when I say that you want to be away from the big cities. Sure, it's where the jobs and opportunity are, but at what cost? We consume, destroy, and contaminate all things around us! Why are we so greedy? Why do we want so much, with so little effort?
If you ever want to find some motivation to be a healthier, cleaner, more environmentally friendly human being, then please take the opportunity to go to BodyWorlds 2.
