I was in my local Shoppers Drug Mart this weekend with my girlfriend and was looking for some body wash. Yes, I actually tried to find somewhat decent bodywash. Something other than Sodium Laureth Sulfate and other carcinigencs. No luck of course. Then, a glimpse of hope! Out of the corner of my eye, there it was; ORGANICS honey and something or other body wash. Could it be? A large retailer carrying an organic personal care product?
As I investigated closer, I read the label "71% Certified Organic". OK? Why only 71%? Then as I read the ingredients in detail I discovered that the famous Sodium Laureth Sulfate, PEG-55, propyls and other harmful ingredients were bountiful in the formula. Plus it was twice as expensive as the purely chemical body washes! So, what is an environmentally, health-conscience on a reasonable budget to do? Stick to glycine bars and homemade soaps forever? Are we barred from the convenience of liquid soaps? At the mass retail level, I think we are, but alas Miessence offers a certified organic bodywash that doesn't have nasties in it...just the good stuff. And that's all we want right? To feel good about our purchase, to feel good about our choices, to feel good about our bodies, to feel good about our health, to feel good about what we give our families and children? So how do the makers of these chemicals feel? Do they feel good about what they offer you?
